Californian online tech retailer Newegg has stepped up its Australian operations by commencing local fulfilment of orders and quadrupling the local product range.
The US$2.3 billion-dollar ecommerce site began offering approximately 13,000 SKUs to Australia in 2014, and now offers more than 50,000 - including laptops, tablets and phones and accessories. The aim is to double that number in the next year.
In addition, Newegg has begun local fulfilment of IT hardware to Australia. Up till now it has shipped from the USA, but is now working with local distributors and manufacturing partners who have stock locally.
Newegg did not disclose the names of those partners.
The site is selling Apple MacBooks, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, iPads, the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX, Lenovo Ideapad Yoga, ASUS Zenbook, and laptops from Toshiba, Acer, HP and Samsung.
Newegg also lists PC components, from CPUs to motherboards, memory, video cards, computer cases, power supplies, cooling, internal and external hard drives.
Other products include wireless networking, NAS, surveillance, projectors, cameras, portable audio, phone accessories including mounts, cases and power banks, and aftermarket print cartridges.
Newegg has been impressed by the “steady growth” from Australian customers since 2014, said chief operating officer James Wu.
“We are confident the Australian market presents a great opportunity for Newegg, and we’re enthusiastic about forging a lasting relationship with this new customer base,” he said.
Newegg will also offer customer support during “normal business hours” in Australian time.
