Managed print solutions provider Upstream has developed an iOS application that would allow customers to print webpages, pdfs and documents from Apple iPhone and iPad devices.
This week, it announced an Australian research and development 'roadmap' that focused on cloud-based document management systems and services.
Upstream's solutions general manager Theo Popescu said the roadmap was steered by "direct requests from quite large organisations" that were interested in online document management and storage.
The iOS app would be launched "shortly", joining a mix of printing apps by Epson, Lexmark, Canon and Hewlett-Packard.
Fuji Xerox-owned Upstream was also partnering with a cloud storage vendor to provide an online document management service by Q1 2011, Popescu said.
"We're taking our foray into the cloud atmosphere," he said, characterising the 'cloud' as online access to documents, sharing and scalability.
The online service would initially target mid-market customers, and Upstream would ensure that data was hosted within Australia to address regulatory concerns.
The company had 3,500 customers in Australia, including the Royal Bank of Scotland and automotive store Repco.
