Upstart data centre services provider TechFlow has revealed that it conducted a major re-platforming project for listed rural and remote telecommunications solutions provider Field Solutions Group (FSG).
TechFlow is a three-year old company helmed by former AC3, Harbour IT and NTT exec Shah Hardik.
The company offers cloud-and-carrier-neutral data centre and consulting services, delivered by a team of five and with help from companies overseen by channel identity Tony Khoury.
TechFlow won the FSG gig after the carrier acquired Australian National Telecom (ANT) to strengthen its capability to deliver services to rural and regional Australia. At the time FSG was also building its own fixed wireless and fibre to the premises network, while also adding both NBN and non-NBN satellite services.
The acquisition and other expansion plans meant FSG needed to rapidly expand its data footprint beyond its fleet of 500 servers, 500TB of storage and over 100 apps. But with that collection of kit and code spanning five locations, scaling was hard.
Enter TechFlow with a plan to consolidate to a single co-location provider, plus procurement services, pre-terminated structured cabling allowed for a plug and play approach, and implementation of the resulting new rig.
Hardik told CRN that the FSG job was the second-largest TechFlow has completed in its short history, and led to similar engagements with a major transport company and sports broadcaster.
“This was not a straightforward ‘pay for 20 racks and fill them’ deal,” Hardik told CRN. “This was an eighteen-month effort.”
CRN understands that the result of the project was consolidation into Global Switch, with Pipe and AAPT on the outer as a result of the consolidation.
