Update: NetSuite "pulls back" channel in Sydney, Melbourne

NetSuite has today announced a revamp of its Asia Pacific partner program that will see an increase in the vendor's channel activities in all states except for Sydney and Melbourne.

As part of the revamped program, NetSuite is "pulling back its channel activity" in Australia's two largest capital cities. The vendor has decided to mainly sell direct to Sydney and Melbourne as it increases its focus in the mid and enterprise market.

The move was part of NetSuite's global channel strategy that will see the vendor move to a 100 percent channel only play in Asia and all states and territories in Australia, except in NSW and Victoria.

Chris Schafer, managing director APAC for NetSuite has since clarified the statements.

Existing partner JCurve will continue its role as a small business focused service provider for the vendor.

"We're chasing the midmarket and enterprise space and probably six verticals," Ken Bartlett (pictured), channel director APAC for NetSuite, told CRN.

Bartlett said there is some channel activity in Sydney and Melbourne but "it's about where your focus is.

"In Australia we will be direct and channel," he added.

NetSuite has kick-started a recruitment drive for a "small number of the very best partners throughout APAC to form strong, long term partnerships".

"We have an existing channel partner program and this is a brand new focus. We're talking to big solution partners," he said.

As part of its renewed program the cloud-based business management software vendor will offer lead registrations, opportunity protection, training and increased margins on new business and renewals for partners.

"Instead of being the enemy, we're going to be the first cloud computing solution that will be profitable.

"It's the first time cloud computing will be profitable for business partners [and] one that brings recurring revenue for channel partners," said Bartlett.
