Toshiba touts new green technologies
Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas the company said it had developer a Super Charge Battery (SCiB) which will last longer than conventional batteries and will also charge faster than normal to help mobile workers.

“SciB is Toshiba's breakthrough rechargeable battery, and it offers excellent safety, long life and rapid charging,” said the company.

“Prototypes of notebooks PCs integrating a SciB point the way to improved battery life – the SciB can be charged 6,000 times – and to greater convenience and efficiency, with a target recharge time of 90 per cent in just 10 minutes.”

The company has also been extolling its environmental credentials, pointing out it has removed cadmium, lead and mercury from its Portege A600, R600 and M750 computers.

Other devices on display include the company's first (SSD) and concept designs for future internet tablets, including a 5mm thick card-sized viewer.
