Telstra upgrades agriculture company Ruralco's network to SD-WAN

Agriculture services provider Ruralco has upgraded its network to Telstra’s SD-WAN solution in an effort to improve connectivity to its 500 outlets across Australia.

The Hobart-based diversified agribusiness provides real estate, insurance, auctioneer services, agricultural equipment and other services to rural communities. It has more than 50 specialist business units and employs some 2000 staff.

The deal aims to improve Ruralco customer's access to technology services across rural and regional Australia while consolidating the company’s technology services.

“This is the first step in a new partnership with Telstra that will allow us to better service the needs of our customers and work more effectively with our staff and joint ventures,” Ruralco managing director Travis Dillon said.

“Telstra’s technology and experience in regional Australia make them an obvious partner for us.”

Ruralco said the SD-WAN upgrade, which also includes 2200 mobile devices, will improve its operational agility, application performance and increase overall bandwidth to its outlets.

The SD-WAN solution could also pave the way for a new point of sales and customer relationship management solution.

“Telstra has a long and proud history supporting customers and businesses in rural and regional Australia. By partnering with Ruralco we are helping to provide innovative technology services to the communities that provide critical services to the rest of the country,” Telstra chief customer officer for enterprise John Ieraci said.

“This partnership demonstrates how serious we are about collaborating with our customers to deliver operational excellence to regional businesses.”
