The mobile phone has a 2.8 inch touch screen, TouchFLO™ 3D user interface, HSDPA internet, 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera, 4GB storage and integrated GPS to use with map software for satellite navigation
HTC claims the online experience rivals a notebook computer and users can interact with Google, YouTube, and Wikipedia as frequently as with a broadband connection.
Telstra spokesman, Peter Taylor, said, "There’s no one size fits all mobile phone or PDA so we think the Diamond, the iPhone and the BlackBerry Bold will win plenty of fans among our customers.
“The devices provide a taste of the new generation of mobile devices making their way to Australia and if their early days are anything to go by, the market is just as enthused about them as we are at Telstra,” Taylor added.
The Touch Diamond is the second HTC device available on Telstra’s Next G network, following the launch of the Touch DualTM 850 this year. It was sold in Hong Kong in May and is now stocked in Telstra’s T Life stores, Telstra shops and through dealers. Customers can buy it on an $80 phone plan over 24 months.
A HTC spokesman believes the Touch Diamond makes web browsing and using web-based applications simple and fun because it has an intuitive web browser for easy navigation and looking at websites.
HTC was founded in 1997. It designs, manufactures and markets product innovations and launched PDA Phones and smartphones for mobile operators and distributors in Europe, the US and Asia.
