Telstra is delivering Skype for Business as part of a major telco deal with Australia’s largest private health insurer, Medibank Private.
The telco has managed to knock a group of incumbents from telco supply arrangements with Medibank Private.
Among the products being delivered by Telstra is Skype for Business across Medibank Private's corporate office and retail locations.
The exclusive, multimillion, three year-contract will see Telstra supplying mobile, voice and data carriage, managed WAN and LAN services, and service management.
The insurer will also be the first company to use Telstra’s Mobile Business Fleet Plus plans. A network refresh is also planned, with Telstra to update Medibank Private’s LAN and WAN equipment. Medibank Private's and Telstra’s service management systems will also be integrated.
The deal sees the insurer move from eight different suppliers to a single telco, though the names of the incumbent suppliers were not revealed. Telstra was already a supplier to Medibank Private, though the telco’s spokesperson described the latest deal as a new contract and not an extension.
Medibank Private has 3.9 million members, a call centre in Melbourne and retail stores. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Earlier this year, Telstra agreed to buy MediBank Private’s Anywhere Healthcare business which allows regional and remote Australians to consult specialists online.
