The partnership will see Telstra and Polycom working together to deliver high definition IP Telephony solutions to Australian businesses. Telstra will resell and distribute a range of co-branded IP handsets designed to allow organisations to leverage their investments in their IP and unified communications networks.
Polycom claims that their range of HD handsets will be able to deliver twice the clarity of ordinary phone calls, making them a viable alternative to traditional PABX telephony solutions.
Michael Chetner, Australia/New Zealand country manager at Polycom, said the deal was born from lengthy planning and discussion between the two organisations.
“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to partner with Telstra to extend the business benefits of HD-enabled IP telephony to customers across Australia,” he said.
"These co-branded handsets are the result of two years of close contact and collaboration between Polycom and Telstra’s technical, sales and product management teams.”
According to Philip Jones, executive director of data IP and enterprise services for Telstra, the partnership will help Telstra meet its goals of providing simple, customer-focused telephony solutions.
“A key priority for Telstra is to offer technologies and services that are innovative, but also intuitive and easy for our customers to use. Polycom’s leadership in HD voice technology and expertise in feature integration made them the ideal preferred handset partner for the TIPT service,” he said.
