Telstra brings T[life] retail to Tasmania

Telstra will open a T[life] retail store in Hobart creating 25 jobs for the region.

In a statement, the telco said the T[life] store would be the largest interactive telecommunications store in Hobart.

It would be located in the Elizabeth Street Mall and was due to open in November.

The store offered customers the chance to test and learn about the latest mobile phones, laptops and wireless broadband devices, seek expert device, view live demonstrations and take one-to-one tuition with Telstra staff.

In other Tasmanian news, the telco said it had enabled its 100th ADSL2+ exchange in Tasmania to extend coverage to 88 percent of homes and businesses in the state.

Telstra said it offers ADSL services to 92 percent of the population through 134 telephone exchanges, and high-speed wireless broadband to 97 percent of Tasmanians over the Next G network.

Over 190 Next G base stations covered more than 55 percent of the state's landmass, the telco said.
