Telcoinabox launches flagship operations centre

Telecommunications franchisor Telcoinabox has opened the doors to its flagship operations centre for Australia and New Zealand in Sydney.

The office houses customer service, technical support, operations, billing, finance and training operations for Australian and New Zealand businesses.

Business development, product and account management functions will continue to be run from the respective country offices, in Wellington and Sydney.

ANZOC (Australian and New Zealand Operations Centre) is the first of what the company hopes will be a series of operations centres in mostly English-speaking countries.

"It is this very structure that we will be duplicating in our overseas operations," Telcoinabox founder, Damian Kay, said.

"We are currently in discussions with a number of potential master franchises in Europe and plan to establish a European Operations Centre which we will reveal later this year."

Kay said Telcoinabox was registered in Canada, Malaysia, the EU, and the US.

Growth plans

Telcoinabox is a telecommunications wholesaler and franchisor that packages telephony products for its franchisee and wholesale service provider network. Its telco partners include Telstra and Optus.

Kay said it has 150 niche service providers operating in Australia and New Zealand that white-label a service.

"The opening of the new global operation brings the company one step closer towards achieving our long term vision to enable more than 10,000 entrepreneurs to start up a telco," Kay said.

The business is also on a recruitment drive, hiring ten staff to bring the headcount in the new centre to 60 in roles that include: technical business analysts; billing specialists; human interface people; software developers; data-centric product managers; franchise channel managers; and account managers.

New roles have also been created to manage human resources and in-house legal affairs.

Kay said in coming years, Telcoinabox could sell more than just telephony services.

"What if we create more products in the cloud. We're really starting to put our head around value-add to make us even more unique," he said.
