ASX-listed telecommunications provider Swoop said it has appointed industry veteran Anthony Camilleri as its new head of infrastructure.

Camilleri brings more than 28 years of information and communications technology experience to the role.

His previous position was regional chief technology officer at Adtran Networks, overseeing operations across the Asia-Pacific as regional chief technology officer.

Camilleri's career spans roles at major telecommunications companies including NBN Co, Telstra, Optus, and Uecomm.

His appointment will focus on establishing a new Swoop Infrastructure business unit.

The role includes developing both retail and wholesale fibre offerings over the next three years.

Camilleri will spearhead strategic partnerships with industry groups and developers.

The position focuses on expanding Swoop's broadband subscriber base.

The appointment follows Swoop's aggressive expansion strategy, which has seen nine acquisitions since its ASX listing in May 2021.

Swoop's subscriber base has grown to more than 130,000 users following its acquisition of Moose Mobile.

"I am delighted that Anthony has joined our team and will take the lead for the rollout of Swoop's Fibre Broadband roadmap," said Alex West, chief executive officer at Swoop.
