Tektronix acquires Arbor Networks

NYSE-listed network intelligence solutions provider Tektronix Communications has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Arbor Networks.

Arbor will operate as a stand-alone business, maintaining the corporate brand, products, channels and resellers.

Arbor's spokesperson told CRN that  "relationships will only be enhanced" as Arbor benefits from the capital, reach and resources of a global company.

"We will be able to accelerate the development of new products for the mobile and data centre markets and be in a better position as a solutions provider for our customers," the spokesperson said. 

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Arbor Networks signed WhiteGold Solutions as its first value-added distributor in Australia earlier this year. 

Rich McBee, group executive from Tektronix's parent company, Danaher, said the acquisition of Arbor Networks would expand Tektronix's portfolio in the communications and enterprise markets.

"It allows [us] to offer our fixed-line, mobile, converged/IP and enterprise customers solutions to deploy, measure, monitor and secure their networks," McBee said.

Arbor Networks products include Arbor Peakflow and the Arbor eSeries platforms for broadband service optimisation.

Colin Doherty, Arbor Networks' chief executive officer, said Tektronix was a "great fit" for Arbor Networks employees and customers. 

"This should help Arbor accelerate the delivery of infrastructure security solutions that are critical to the success of converged carrier network operators and next-generation data centers," Doherty said.
