Australian software developer and integrator TechnologyOne has rolled out its Student Management Systems to nine Victorian TAFEs – and said this one-stop shop approach is better using the channel.
The project marks the end of the statewide IT rollout by VicGov to support the transition of TAFEs to new contestable training markets.
Adrian Di Marco, TechnologyOne's founder and executive chairman, said the company's role as both vendor and integration partner set it apart.
"We have successfully rolled out this Student Management system on time and on budget, thanks to a close working relationship with Victoria's TAFEs, which has streamlined each implementation. In terms of multi-institution, enterprise-wide rollouts, this is a significant achievement, and a great outcome for the Victorian TAFEs and the Victorian government."
Di Marco also took a swipe at third-party integrator arrangements. "This project is another example that demonstrates the power of working with a solution provider that builds, implements and runs its own software, as opposed to the scenario where third-party integrators such as IBM and Accenture are engaged to manage large-scale Oracle or SAP implementations.
"Using third-party integrators introduces added cost and complexity, and runs the risk of implementation disasters such as the failed Queensland Health Payroll system. We take complete, end-to-end responsibility for our customer implementations."
According to TechnologyOne, it "has become the pre-eminent supplier of Student Management Systems. More than half of Australia's universities and TAFEs use TechnologyOne's integrated enterprise solution."
The company "develops, markets, sells, implements, supports and runs its solutions".
It also implements other companies' systems, such as strategic asset management tool Assetic.
In September, TechnologyOne revealed it had locked in 10 major customers in a year, including Toowoomba Regional Council (QLD), The Hills Shire Council (NSW), City of Canada Bay (NSW), City of Charles Sturt (SA) and City of Fremantle (WA).
