Datacom has selected former Avanade executive Laura Malcolm as its new managing director for Australian operations.
Malcolm joins Datacom following her role as general manager at Avanade Australia, where she led a team of more than 800 professionals.
The appointment follows an extensive search after the departure of Alex Coates, who left the company following a 12-year tenure, who will be starting at CRN 2024 Impact Awards finalist Interactive in January next year.
Malcolm brings international experience from roles across Australia, Asia-Pacific, the United Kingdom and Europe.
Her career includes senior positions at major technology firms including Oracle, Capgemini, IBM and EDS.
Prior to her general manager role at Avanade, Malcolm served as growth and strategy lead for the company's growth markets.
She will oversee Datacom's Australian workforce of more than 2500 people from the Sydney office.
"Laura has a wealth of experience spanning leadership roles and sales, pre-sales, consulting, strategy and transformation roles," Greg Davidson, chief executive officer of Datacom Group said.
Davidson highlighted Malcolm's alignment with Datacom's values, particularly in building customer-centric and inclusive teams.
The appointment aims to strengthen Datacom's 30-year presence in the Australian market.
Malcolm's role will involve leading both government and private sector technology initiatives.
