IT service provider Interactive, a 2024 CRN Impact Awards finalist, has appointed Alex Coates as its new chief executive officer, effective 28 January 2025.

Coates will lead the executive team and drive Interactive's growth strategy across its Cloud, Cyber and Systems business units.

She most recently served as managing director of Datacom Australia for over four years, following her role as chief operating officer of Datacom's ANZ operation.

With extensive international experience, Coates brings a proven track record of driving growth and transformation whilst maintaining strong customer and partner relationships.

She was a driving force behind Datacom becoming a key provider for Transport for New South Wales, bringing in $300 million of work from the agency.

Originally from the UK, Coates moved to Australia with Fujitsu in 2008, where she managed large-scale operations teams in Canberra and Melbourne across both public and private sectors.

Interactive chairman Brendan Fleiter has held the chief executive position for the company as well for the past three years.

He will remain as chairm when Coates steps into the chief executive role in January next year.

Fleither said Interactive has ambitious plans for growth, and that now is the time to bring in a new chief executive to lead the company.

"I can't think of a more qualified individual to take on the CEO role at Interactive at this time," Fleiter said.

"Alex brings the perfect mix of industry presence, people leadership, customer focus and cultural alignment," he added.
