Tech Data adds digital security vendor Gemalto

Tech Data has signed an agreement to distribute Gemalto’s digital security products to Australia and New Zealand.

The distributor will be carrying Gemalto’s full suite of technologies and services, including advanced authentication, cloud access, data encryption and encryption key management.

“I’m thrilled to announce we have signed this agreement with Gemalto,” Tech Data country general manager for ANZ Wendy O’Keeffe said.

“Digital security offerings are presenting an immense opportunity for the channel given the increased security risks we’re seeing at all levels–from individual identities to corporate and government information.”

She added that Gemalto’s identity and data protection portfolios would enable Tech Data to create “best-in-class” security solutions for its partners.

“The strength of Tech Data’s next-generation security solutions lies in their proactive approach to security threats, and their ability to arm their partners with the knowledge and skills they need to protect their customers,” Gemalto regional director Graeme Pyper said.

“With the addition of Gemalto’s complete authentication and data protection solutions, Tech Data’s partners can now offer their end-user customers industry-leading data protection solutions and services that are in high demand in the region and enable enterprises to effectively address their evolving business, security and privacy objectives.”

Netherlands-based Gemalto was set to be acquired by Paris-based IT services firm Atos for US$5.05 billion in an effort to create an IoT powerhouse. The company was eventually bought by aerospace and defense group Thales in the same month for US$5.43 billion.
