Distributor Synnex wants Telstra and Optus to push its latest Mio PDA/phone through their retail channels.
The distributor's push to sell its latest product, the Mio A701 (pictured), through Telstra and Optus stores will signal its first foray into the telecommunications retail channel.
Mio's A701 is a combined mobile phone, GPS unit and PDA device. The phone comes with Windows Mobile 5.0 and also has Bluetooth 1.2.
Arthur Gimisis, national sales manager of Synnex, confirmed the distributor was in negotations with Telstra and Optus.
“It’s been hard work trying to convince the telcos to take the Mio A701 onboard. We are in the first stages of talks with Optus, but Telstra is Telstra, they have the specs for the product,” said Gimisis.
The Mio A701 will be distributed through retail stores like Domayne and Harvey Norman and traditional street-level resellers, said Gimisis.
