Sydney Symantec partner InfoTrust nabs Veeam exec to head Qld

Award-winning east coast Symantec partner InfoTrust has appointed Veeam executive Chris Russell to head up its new Queensland operations.

"We’re delighted to be bringing in someone of such high calibre as Chris to head up our Queensland branch," said InfoTrust chief executive Dane Meah, telling CRN that Russell would start 12 September.

Meah said that the Queensland team, to operate out of an office in Brisbane, has many opportunities ahead.

"We already support close to 50 clients in Queensland.  A local presence will enable us to drive better outcomes for our customers," he said. "We see Queensland as a mature yet growing market."

Russell was Veeam ANZ's regional sales manager for the past 18 months. Before that he worked at Symantec for six years, ultimately ending up in the role of senior manager for cloud services APJ and new business ANZ.

He started his career in the channel, working for solutions provider Premiere Global Services from 2007 to 2009.

"I’m excited to be joining InfoTrust," Russell said. "You can’t just rely on technical controls. You need a holistic security strategy and that’s what InfoTrust’s clients can rely on."

InfoTrust hit the headlines last November when it won Symantec's Asia-Pacific innovation partner of the year award.

"Our approach is to provide ongoing structured engagement that ensures customers have the best-practice configuration and therefore the best protection against advanced threats," Meah said at the time.

InfoTrust has its headquarters in Sydney along with a branch office in Melbourne. The security and data management solutions provider claims more than 300 clients across Australia and New Zealand.
