Telecommunications company Superloop said it has named Jason Ashton as group executive for corporate development and smart communities in a newly created leadership role.
Ashton, who co-founded wireless and IT services company BigAir, returns to Superloop where he previously served as an executive following BigAir's acquisition in 2014.
The appointment comes as Superloop integrates its recent acquisition of Optus subsidiary Uecomm, which added more than 2,000 kilometres of high-capacity fibre networks across major Australian metropolitan areas.
"I am thrilled to welcome Jason to our leadership team. He has decades of experience in the telecommunications industry and has an extensive understanding of the unique mix of fixed and wireless technologies," Paul Tyler, chief executive officer and managing director of Superloop said.
Ashton will oversee merger and acquisition activities while developing the company's smart communities portfolio as part of Superloop's market expansion strategy.
"Superloop is a challenger brand, committed to disrupting the market and gaining share from incumbents. We constantly push ourselves to improve and innovate. Jason embodies this spirit, bringing a fresh perspective and aligning with our company values," Tyler said.
Listed on the ASX since 2015, Superloop provides connectivity services across consumer, business and wholesale segments through its infrastructure-on-demand platform.
