Business software vendor, SPL has purchased the Sidewinder business from Sidewinder Holdings, a provider of mobile software for field personnel, for an undisclosed sum.
Both of Sidewinder’s subsidiaries in Australia and the UK, has been taken over by SPL. This includes staff, intellectual property and the global customer base, including Allied Express, Boral and Comcar, locally.
Sidewinder’s commercial operation was headquartered in its UK office, while the Melbourne-based Australian development centre comprises of product development, sales and support. All 10 Melbourne employees will move immediately to the SPL Melbourne office.
SPL CEO, Larry Hagewood said SPL Mobile Workforce Management(MWM) application was likely to benefit from the incorporation of Sidewinder technology, as will its other products.
”We’ll also incorporate Sidewinder modules into future releases of such SPL enSUMIT applications as SPL Outage and Distribution Management (OMS/DMS) and SPL Enterprise Asset and Workforce Management (EAM),” he said.
SPL plans to continue offering Sidewinder technology to a variety of companies with large field-service workforces and specialised logistical requirements, said Brenton McPherson, senior vice president Asia Pacific, SPL WorldGroup.
