Spirit Technology Solutions will acquire Sydney-headquartered cybersecurity company InfoTrust for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition will see Spirit combine the threat detection and response capabilities of its security operations center (SOC), through its Intalock business, with InfoTrust’s assurance and governance, risk management and compliance (GRC) services.

The two entities' combined solutions will also enable Spirit to offer an improved secure managed service offering.

"This strategic acquisition aligns with our vision of becoming the go-to cybersecurity partner in Australia," Spirit's MD and CEO Julian Challingsworth said.

"By combining our SOC capabilities with InfoTrust's assurance, GRC and product focus, we are positioned to deliver a completed and robust cybersecurity solution set that enables our clients to build robust defences against a cyber-attack and respond quickly to threats and attacks which are becoming more prevalent."

The acquisition brings together a combined 110 seasoned cybersecurity experts, with Spirit’s cyber division now boasting 600 customers.

"We are excited to join forces with Spirit to create a powerhouse in the Australian cybersecurity market," InfoTrust's co-founder and CEO Simon McKay said.

"This merger enables us to combine Intalock’s world class managed security services with InfoTrust’s leading GRC, penetration testing and technology expertise and enable us to scale and deliver a comprehensive set of solutions to our clients, ensuring their security and compliance needs are met with the highest standards."

"An incredible cybersecurity powerhouse"

Founded in 2014 by McKay and its director Dane Meah, InfoTrust offers assurance, GRC, email, endpoint, cloud and network security solutions to over 400 customers across Australia.

In addition to its Sydney headquarters, the CRN Fast50 firm has staff in Melbourne, Brisbane and Manila.

Spirit was founded in 2005 and offers solutions covering managed services, security, communication and collaboration, as well as business automation and IoT services.

The company delivers security solutions including advisory, assessment, technical and managed services via Intalock, which it acquired for $15 million in 2020.

In 2022, Spirit restructured into three new business units to target SMB, midmarket and enterprise customers.

The firm Spirit opened its Brisbane SOC in July 2023.

Meah said he was “incredibly proud of what we’ve built at InfoTrust over the past 10 years."

"The business has never been in better shape achieving record growth over the past two years, thanks to the hard work of Simon and the whole team."

"Integrating InfoTrust with Spirit provides a platform to create an incredible cybersecurity powerhouse for many years to come."

"The best days are ahead, and we’re excited for what the future holds."
