Anti-virus outfit Sophos and Sun Microsystems have struck what they claim is a landmark development and reseller agreement.
In a global first for both companies, Sun Microsystems said it would become an accredited Sophos Reseller Partner and add Sophos products to its price list.
Sophos supported the Solaris 10 operating system and used the new platform in its global research and development, the company said.
Sophos' use of Sun's hardware and software was being made possible under a Sun partner program, 10 Moves Ahead.
This initiative gave Sun's ISV partners and commercial developers the opportunity to learn about and adopt the latest features and technologies of the Solaris platform, the company said.
"The new blanket reseller agreement - which enables Sun to sell all of our products - is an important milestone for Sophos both in Australia and globally," said Rob Forsyth, managing director at Sophos Australia and New Zealand.
"We've always collaborated in the past as a Sun ISV partner, but with Sun now reselling our software, we have an opportunity to work closer than ever before," he said.
