Sophos secures government tender

The Sophos endpoint solution will deliver anti-virus and firewall protection for around 27,000 desktops, laptops and fileservers accessed by over 18,000 ACT Government staff, 20,000 tertiary students and 35,000 students.

“We have worked with InTACT in providing anti-virus protection to the ACT government for the past 10 years.

"We now look forward to the continued provision of a robust and reliable security and control solution in the future,” he added.

InTACT, a shared ICT service organisation, within the ACT Department of Territory and Municipal Services, has approximately 500 staff who provide a complete range of ICT and allied services to the ACT Government.

It will deploy the software, manage policies and report on security across the network using a single console.

The Sophos endpoint solution includes a client firewall, which stops zero-day threats and prevents intrusion from hackers.

It also incorporates application control, which blocks unauthorised programs and games as well as buffer overflow monitoring via its host intrusion prevention system (HIPS).

Another key feature is integrated network access and control (NAC) which allows control of the security status of managed and unmanaged computers.
