Software transforms iPod into PC backup device

By on

All those millions of iPod mobile music players are getting an additional personality via a software package that enables iPod users to back up their PC settings on their iPods.

The Migo Personal for iPod software solution was introduced this week at the TECHXNY show, in New York City.

"It allows users to harness their personalised computer settings on any PC," the software's developer stated.

"The Migo software stores Outlook email, calendar and contacts, Internet Explorer favourites, and browsing history, as well as data files, presentations. . .on the iPod's hard drive."

The Migo family of software for mobile devices is a division of PowerHouse Technologies Group.

Once a Migo-equipped iPod has stored data from a host computer, the iPod can convert the captured data into a virtual copy on another PC, the firm said.

"iPod users can now enjoy their favourite songs while carrying their personalised computer setting wherever they go," said Joshua Feller, president of PowerHouse Technologies, in a statement.
