SMBiT Professionals 'Next Level' conference set for October

The 2025 SMBiT Professionals National Conference will take place in Sydney in October, focusing on helping technology service providers reach the "Next Level" in an industry evolving at breakneck speed.

Set for October 9 to 10, at the Novotel Sydney Olympic Park, the event is the organisation's 10th annual conference.

The get-together aims to equip its attendees with strategies to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing technology landscape.

"This year's conference theme, 'Next Level,' perfectly encapsulates where the IT industry is headed—and where businesses must go to stay ahead," Wayne Small, chief executive officer of SMBiT Professionals, said.

The two-day programme will feature keynote presentations from high-profile industry figures including Steve Vamos, former chief executive of Xero who has held senior roles at Microsoft Australia, and Apple Asia Pacific as well.

Vamos will present on the human aspects of technology adoption with his session "Change is a human thing, not a technology thing".

"The theme this year is about being smarter in scaling our businesses, championing innovation, and strengthening our industry impact," Small added.

It's not just about new flashy technology, it's about mindset, leadership, and continuous growth," Small said.

The conference will also feature Mark Iles, principal channel analyst at Tech Research Asia, who will share exclusive research into the sub-100-user SMB market specifically prepared for SMBiT Professionals members.

Pre-conference workshops will be held on October 8, offering both technical and business-focused sessions.

The technical workshop will be led by Ben Verschaeren, global director of sales engineering at Sophos, and Alex Tilley, global threat research coordinator at Okta, focusing on cybersecurity challenges.

For business owners, Ryan Spillane, chief executive officer of 360 Consulting, and James Davis, chief executive officer of The TSP Advisory, will run a "Transform or Exit" workshop designed to help build resilient, future-ready businesses.

"When it comes to our keynote presenters, what I'm most excited about is the level of credibility they have within our community and the larger IT industry," Small said.

Early bird conference tickets for members are available at $695 until 31 March 2025, with regular pricing at $995 from 1 April.
