Sanyo takes Ingram into CCTV market

Ingram Micro has partnered with Sanyo to distribute IP-based closed circuit television (CCTV) security systems for the first time.

Ingram has positioned Sanyo within its data capture/point of sale arm, Vantex, led by the division's general manager Jenny Southon. Ingram Micro's Australian divisions include: Enterprise Technology Group (ETG), Volume Technology (VTG), which was restructured recently, and Vantex.

Grant Cleary, Ingram Micro's marketing director, told CRN that Ingram plans to expand Vantex to include CCTV surveillance, digital signage and projectors.

"CCTV is a new area for us," said Cleary. "It's a journey of discovery, based on reseller feedback."

Resellers can direct what vertical segments Ingram should focus on, he said.

"It's another extension for resellers in education," Cleary said as an example of  possible verticals.

Last June Sanyo signed Lan 1 to distribute a similar range of products. At the time Lan 1 said it was approached by Sanyo "to look at their IP based products" in Australia.

Bundle

As part of its new product range Ingram is offering an EMC, Sanyo and Lenovo bundle to resellers.

It includes Sanyo's VDC-HD3300P, Full HD network camera; EMC's Iomega StorCenter Pro ix4-200r NAS rackmount server for small to medium businesses; and the Lenovo ThinkServer TS200v tower designed for small business customers to deliver management capabilities.
