Ingram Micro splits retail division

Ingram Micro has restructured its retail division, splitting the sales team into two units and appointing a new division head.

One unit will serve large national retailers. The other will focus on smaller independent resellers.

The distributor said the objective of the realignment was to ensure that "customer-facing teams are more efficient and streamlined" while also providing a "solid foundation for expanding into new areas in the retail space".

Hanspeter Eiselt, general manager at Ingram Micro's volume and consumer business, said opportunities lie in the "mobile, gaming and consumer electronics markets".

The new structure will provide a "tighter focus and greater efficiency for our partners," he added.

"This re-alignment was driven by a detailed review of both the needs of our retail partners and changes to their purchasing requirements, which has seen considerable shifts to electronic ordering over the last few years," Eiselt said.

Meanwhile, Ingram Micro has promoted Danny Kwoh to the newly created role of senior business manager for its retail division.

Kwoh a long-term Ingram Micro employee was previously responsible for managing the components division.

Eiselt said Kwoh is "ideally suited to this new position".

"Kwoh is tasked with ensuring that we deliver, faster, more efficient service to our retail customers, and I'm confident his experience and drive will enable us to accomplish that," Eiselt said.
