Riverbed overhauls software lineup

Riverbed Technology is undergoing a company-wide consolidation which will see their products renamed and integrated into the company's Application Performance Platform.

The change is aimed at reinforcing that the products are part of an integrated platform that ensure "applications perform as expected", said Riverbed's CMO Kate Hutchinson.

Riverbed's Granite infrastructure solutions are now known as SteelFusion, while the name of the company's application delivery controller has been changed from Stingray to SteelApp.

Riverbed's cloud storage offering, Whitewater, has being renamed SteelStore and the vendor's developer tools have been rebranded under the SteelScript name.

The company's WAN optimisation solution, Steelhead, has only undergone a minor change to 'SteelHead'.

Finally, Riverbed's OPNET, Cascade and NEOP performance management suites have been consolidated into a single product named SteelCentral.

Riverbed recently lost a court ruling against rival, Silver Peak.
