IT solutions provider PowerNet has reached an agreement with unified communications vendor RingCentral to resell its enterprise cloud communications and collaboration solutions to Australian customers.

The company joins Dialog IT and Tradewinds as RingCentral’s newest partner in Australia, along with some 30 others it signed this year.

The agreement comes after PowerNet signed contracts with four undisclosed companies looking for unified cloud communications solutions, including a public transport provider and government agency.

“We wanted to provide a robust UCaaS solution for a client, and at the same time we were looking for one that we could use internally,” PowerNet chief executive Daniel Williams told CRN.

PowerNet also became a RingCentral customer, deploying the UCaaS solution to its offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Manila.

“Having experienced it ourselves, we thought it made sense to offer it to our clients as well. RingCentral has enabled our flexible working policy to operate seamlessly, so our staff can work anywhere they want.”

RingCentral APAC head of channels Ben Swanson told CRN that its partnership with PowerNet was one that the vendor expects to last a very long time.

“There’s a lot of synergy between RingCentral and PowerNet, so it made sense for us to take them on as a partner,” Swanson said.

“Powernet’s employees love the truly mobile, flexible working environment RingCentral’s technology offers and they found it really liberating to have done away with the phone handset forever as they feel it is an unnecessary piece of equipment.”

RingCentral is also PowerNet’s first unified communications vendor, adding to its existing partnerships with Sophos, Microsoft, Datto and HP.
