Research in Motion (RIM) has released another preview video for its Blackberry 6 operating system.
The video shows the new interface for the operating system as well as a preview of the platform's social networking features. The company said that the interface would be designed to be "more fluid" and would make use of full touch-screen smartphone systems.
Other features highlighted were an updated carousel-style media interface and the Universal Search component. The preview also showed the social networking features of the service, including components to read and organise updates from social networking services such as Twitter.
The video is the second BlackBerry 6 preview to be posted by RIM. First announced in April of this year, the Smartphone OS will be built around the same Webkit browser engine that powers the iPhone and Android platforms.
The company said that the BlackBerry 6 release was slated to hit the market later this summer, but a specific date has yet to be given.
The preview comes on the heels of a security release from RIM. The company said that the BlackBerry Protect application would allow users to back up their systems as well as track and wipe lost or stolen handsets.
