The value-added distributor of enterprise computing products, software and services reported a revenue rise of over 100 percent in the 2007 fiscal year.
“This is a fantastic result for Avnet Australia, our business partners and our local Avnet team,” said Gavin Lawless, general manager of Avnet Technology Solutions Australia.
“We have seen an explosion in the number of business partners in Queensland, and to that end we opened a new office in Brisbane in May.”
When asked about the specific products to which the growth could be attributed, Avnet responded by giving a range of IBM server and storage brands a share of the credit. Lawless also acknowledged the contribution made by the newly recruited sales team that had been targeting sales and technical enablement to key areas of the channel.
In response, Mark Latchford, vice president for Systems and Technology – IBM Australia recognised the VAD’s distribution model as a major factor in the success.
“Avnet is working effectively and our clients are benefiting from a combination of our long-term relationships and innovative technology solutions,” he said.
