Newly appointed Quantum Australia and New Zealand country manager Adrian Sharkey has pledged his plan to drive channel sales through specific verticals this year.
Sharkey joined Quantum last October after two years as channel partner sales manager at Hitachi Data Systems. Before that he was general manager of managed services at Datacom.
“We’ve made the decision to invest in the channel. It’s our primary growth for the year,” he told CRN. “We’re looking at market verticalisation,” he said.
Verticals include media and entertainment in both broadcast and production, healthcare and life sciences in areas such as healthcare providers, geonomics and pharmaceuticals, science and engineering, education, finance and government.
Sharkey said he has immediately doubled the joint sales commissions to $200 for Quantum channel program members that include Quantum in the sales process.
Quantum has a two-tiered channel model; high-value partners deal directly with the vendor and the rest go through distribution. Distributor partners include ACA Pacific Pty Ltd, Express Data, Intraware and Synnex.
Quantum would hold a partner conference later this year, he said.
