Perth-based IoT firm Quantify Technology has deployed its Amazon Alexa-powered Q device to apartment units in a residential development in Lindfield, Sydney.
The device will deliver Alexa voice-controlled home automation and energy management for homeowners, through Amazon Echo Dot hardware and Quantify’s add-on Qumulus Skill for Alexa.
“With natural language control, we’re able to deliver residents a truly unique living experience,” Quantify managing director Mark Lapins said.
“What sets this project apart are the capabilities our technology can offer the future residents at Lindfield. Combining our platform with a world-class voice solution like Alexa paves the way for us to raise the bar on residential and commercial development projects from here on out.”
The company is touting the residential units as “homes of the future” by eliminating the reliance on applications and software for interaction with technology, being able to interact with the home automation system “using natural language”.
The residential project is being developed by Queensland-based Arkibuild Pty Ltd.
Quantify partnered with Sydney electrical services firm Cambridge Electrical Services (CES) to install the Alexa-powered devices.
“Quantify Technology provided a feature-rich solution that delivers all of the functionality we could need currently as well as in the future thanks to their modular design, without the complexity and cost of traditional systems we would have used previously,” CES founder Tony Sclavos said.
In October, Harvey Norman added Quantify’s IoT products to its portfolio, marketing them to development projects in NSW and the ACT.
