Qld hosted desktop provider signs first US reseller

Hosted desktop provider Cloud DC has signed Summit Technology as its first-ever US reseller.

Summit Technology is a communications service provider and is part of the Wasatch Group, which includes real state; recycling and waste; and sports and fitness companies.

Summit Technology chief operating officer Dave Carlson said: "Summit Technology has chosen Cloud DC Workspace as the platform for our ongoing cloud strategy with not just the Wasatch Group, but to position our primary cloud solution for other clients."

Cloud DC, based on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, last month announced Cloud Lucidity as its first US distributor. Cloud DC chief executive Steve Robinson said he was impressed with the distie for signing its first partner in such a short period of time.

Cloud Lucidity is the only US distributor of Cloud DC's Workspace product. Workspace virtualises applications and delivers it to end users' devices in a desktop format, according to Cloud DC.

Cloud Lucidity chief executive Jody Elkins said: "The Cloud DC Workspace is attractive to us because it is the first in market, white-labelled, bundled infrastructure-management layer, fully automated and highly scalable platform purely developed for the channel as a turnkey solution."

"Cloud solutions and their vendors have largely ignored the importance of channel profitability and that creates a trickle-down effect that limits the development and adoption of cloud solutions throughout the entire ecosystem," said Elkins.

In September 2015, Cloud DC received a $1 million federal government grant as part of the Entrepreneurs Programme. Robinson told CRN at the time that this funding would be invested into taking Cloud DC's OfficeBox to the USA market.
