Dimension Data has poached a HP systems integration executive to fill the data centre solutions general manager role vacated by Ronnie Altit last year.
The systems integrator announced last week that Peter Prowse would take on the data centre position.
Prowse was most recently director of HP's Network Solutions group, where he led a team of 60. He spent 10 years working at the company.
Prowse told CRN that his key priorities were to "make sure Dimension Data takes advantage of what I see as one of the biggest hotspots in the IT market for some time - the convergence of server, storage and networking."
He praised the formation of recent vendor tie-ups in the area - including Cisco-VMware-EMC, Cisco-VMware-NetApp and Microsoft-HP.
"I think it's great they're coming out with offers," Prowse said.
"All the major vendors have coalesced messages around the data centre but sometimes their messages are conflicting. The role of systems integrators is to help customers navigate the sometimes conflicting messages that come out."
He would collaborate to some degree with David Hanhrahan, who was recently promoted to lead a virtual data centre initiative at Dimension Data.
