Polycom delays local launch of new partner program

Polycom has delayed the launch of its new global partner program in Australia & New Zealand.

The program was anticipated to launch in the second half of 2015, after launching in the US and Canada on 1 April.

Speaking to CRN Australia, vice president of worldwide channel sales Mark Arman confirmed Polycom is aiming for an “early 2016” launch for Australia & New Zealand.

“Australia is one of the markets in APAC that’s closest to the US market,” Arman said.

“However, there are differences, such as adoption rate of cloud technology. We made the decision to delay the launch here because we realised we’ll be driving a common approach worldwide, but there’s also a need for a local nuanced approach.”

Arman is currently in Australia meeting with local Polycom partners to determine how the program will be tailored to the Australian market.

The program will be different from its previous Polycom Choice program, says Arman.

“Choice had some older practices that we as a team didn’t feel were appropriate for taking into a 100 percent channel focused business,” said Arman.

The new partner program will include increased incentives, joint business planning and guides on how to invest and perform with Polycom. A partner relationship management portal is also being developed.

All of Polycom’s US reseller partners are signed up to the global partner program automatically, as will Australian resellers when it launches in ANZ.

Polycom has an estimated 7,000 partners globally, half of them in the US. All four of its US disties have also signed on to the program.
