Teachers and students at Cromer Public School proudly showed off their new Panaboard in an interactive display with government officials and Panasonic staff in attendance. The whiteboards act as an extension to the computer desktop and are connected to the internet.
“Just this short time I’ve been here (Cromer Public School) I’ve had my eyes opened to the amazing technology that has been developed with the Cromer school teachers,” said Steve Rust, managing director of Panasonic.
Durability is a key feature of the Panaboards as they have been created to suit the classroom environment. Working closely with the Cromer Public school teachers, it took less than 12 months to produce the product and install it at the school.
Cathie Howe is a teacher at the school who has been instrumental in the design process of the product. Students in her 5H class demonstrated the board and eagerly offered to show how it links into to websites so the kids can play interactive learning games.
“You’re only limited by your imagination as a teacher. All of our teachers will have one by the end of the year. By having it totally integrated into the kids teaching process they are switched on and I think it gives them a deeper learning experience,” said Howe.
“Because the kids are brought up in a digital world, having a digital tool that can access digital resources is fantastic. The students love the fact that it’s so interactive. They are very competent ICT users.”
