PC peripherals vendor Corsair acquires system builder Origin PC

Consumer PC peripherals vendor Corsair has acquired boutique PC builder Origin PC for an undisclosed sum.

The deal will see Corsair and Origin PC integrate some of their respective offerings, with some Corsair software, cooling products to be included in Origin’s pre-built systems.

Better known for its consumer gaming gear, Origin PC also offers a range of high-performance workstations with features usually found in gaming PCs like liquid cooling and Nvidia graphics cards. Its products are marketed towards users of computer-aided design applications, virtual reality development and any other graphics card-based computing.

In a press release issued today, Corsair chief executive Andy Paul said the company wanted to reach customers that preferred to buy systems instead of building their own.

“With Origin PC’s expertise in personalised custom gaming systems and Corsair’s strength in performance PC hardware and the iCUE software ecosystem, we’re excited to combine our efforts to create new world-class gaming experiences for PC gamers,” Paul said.

Origin will remain a separate brand and will continue operating from its current offices in the US, while Corsair will remain offering its own range of pre-built PCs.

“Corsair is a fantastic partner to help take Origin PC forward, known for creating quality, high-performance products that fully align with Origin PC,” Origin PC chief executive Kevin Wasielewski said.
