Australian wireless and fibre optic network equipment distributor Packlink has opened a new Brisbane office and support centre dubbed Paclink Queensland.
The company opened a Queensland office to better service major accounts with Queensland state government agencies. It had previously been servicing these companies from Sydney, said Craig Martyn, CEO at Paclink. It spent $380,000 on the new office, he said.
The company distributes last mile and broadband internet wireless products and saw a 32 percent increase in sales revenue this calendar year over 2004. Martyn said a lot of growth was driven by utility companies becoming carriers on-selling infrastructure. Queensland Ergon Energy for instance, has got a carrier licence, he said.
Paclink Queensland is now the preferred RAD, Alvarion, FibroLAN and Ceragon access solutions provider to the Queensland government and other accounts in the state.
Paclink also operates offices and support centres in Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide and Sydney. An operation would be opened in Perth, Western Australia in the first quarter of next year, said Martyn.
Bob Bishop, CEO of Paclink Queensland, said in a statement that the opening came at a time when demand for communications and access solutions was booming throughout Queensland.
“The penetration of internet services in Queensland increased by 66 percent (249K to 416K lines) in the last 12 months. Queenslanders downloaded 2.4 million MB of data in the March quarter which is a doubling from the same period last year,” he said.
