Optus wins five-year contract with major aged-care provider

Optus Business has become the primary ICT supplier of an aged-care and community service provider with more than 200 sites.

Optus Business today announced a five-year deal to provide Uniting with fixed voice, mobile, unified communications-as-a-service and data network services.

“The new agreement will see Optus as Uniting’s primary ICT supplier, unifying the technology underpinning its corporate offices, aged-care facilities, independent living units, and childcare and community centres,” according to Optus.

An Optus spokesman told CRN that the deal represents an expansion of its relationship with Uniting, which previously only included a portion of its mobility services.

Under the contract, Optus Business will manage Uniting’s mobile fleet of 2,400 devices, while also implementing a wide area network solution for its 220 sites in NSW and the ACT.

Optus Business managing director John Paitaridis said the telco would increase Uniting’s cloud presence and help it become data-led.

“Today’s announcement highlights how focused organisations such as Uniting are transforming to better anticipate ever-evolving customer needs,” he said.

“In the case of Uniting, they are transforming their service delivery model to not only improve employee productivity but also increase their value to customers.”

The contract followed a series of joint workshops in Optus ThinkSpace, an innovation facility where organisations work through strategic priorities.

Uniting’s director of people and systems, Jill Reich, said the organisation used ThinkSpace to help change its service delivery strategy.

“Through the partnership with Optus, we will streamline our back-office systems and databases, enabling Uniting to overlay analytics and leverage business intelligence to better forecast and deliver on our customer’s future needs; helping them live better for longer,” she said.
