Optus has launched several new home broadband plans with unlimited data, starting from $95.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, households downloaded more than 1.1 million terabytes of data in the 12 months to December 2014, an increase of 35 percent from the previous year.
"Demand for data continues to grow as Australians take advantage of on-demand video services, with 52 percent of adults viewing TV shows or feature films via the internet," according to an Optus statement.
Both the Home Entertainment bundle and Big Bundle have unlimited data plans for $95, while the beefier Ultimate Home Bundle costs $115 and also offers customers unlimited calls and "all the entertainment they can handle with Optus TV with Fetch and the Entertainment Pack".
Both the Unlimited Home Bundle and Home Entertainment Bundle come with Optus TV with Fetch, providing Netflix and access to YouTube, premium channel such as ESPN, Disney Channel and E! Entertainment, as well as letting customers "record, pause and rewind up to 585 hours of standard definition digital free-to-air TV".
Optus has also unveiled the Home Basics Bundle, which offers 200GB of data and unlimited standard national calls for $70 per month.
All the bundles come on a 24-month plan.
