Optus gets first crack at Cisco's cloud calling platform
Phones in the cloud? Whatever next!??

Optus Business will be the first Australian telco to offer Cisco’s BroadCloud cloud calling service, as of June 2019.

The telco will leverage BroadCloud, the platform Cisco acquired from Broadsoft in 2018, for its new cloud-based unified communications service.

"Optus Cloud Calling", as the new service will be known, will offer enterprise customers an  enterprise telephony, native mobility, advanced conferencing and other collaboration tools.

Optus will also offer an end-to-end managed service bundled with Evolve Voice SIP trunking and business mobile services.

“With tight integration to Cisco’s Webex solutions, organisations will gain access to advanced audio and video conferencing and Team collaboration applications,” Cisco ANZ vice president Ken Boal said. “When combined with Optus Cloud Calling, customers will have access to an advanced collaboration toolset, that is fast to deploy, flexible, scalable and with a predictable cost.”

Optus Business managing director John Paitaridis added: “With Optus Cloud Calling, enterprises will be able to capture cloud computing’s business efficiencies, cost benefits and competitive advantages for their telephony services.

“Optus is pleased that we can bring these benefits to Australian enterprises in partnership with Cisco, the leading unified communications and collaboration vendor globally.”

Optus took out Cisco’s award for service provide partner of the year at Cisco Live in Melbourne this week.

Brendon Foye traveled to Cisco Live in Melbourne as a guest of Cisco.
