Oakton disappears as NTT rebrand sets in

NTT Ltd has today folded even more companies into its single unified name and brand, including Australian services provider Oakton.

Oakton was acquired by Dimension Data Australia for $171 million in August 2014, in what was a landmark deal for the Australian IT channel at the time. DiData’s former Australian CEO Rod Cunico told CRN at the time that the acquisition was made in an effort to diversify the company’s portfolio into information management.

CRN reported in June that NTT planned to roll up approximately 20 of its global businesses under one brand, NTT Ltd, including Dimension Data, NTT Security and NTT Communications, in order to create a US$11 billion global powerhouse with a presence in 70 countries, 40,000 staff and 10,000 customers. The company said it would also rebrand “other companies” from 1 October.

It was unclear at the time whether the rebrand would include companies owned by Dimension Data, such as Oakton, but with October upon us, we now have the full list of companies facing a rebrand:

Arkadin, CAPSiDE, Communications Lifecycle Management (CLM), DPA, DTSI Group, Emerio, e-shelter, Euricom, e2y, Global IP Network (GIN), Gyron, Netmagic Solutions,  NTT Communications Cloud Infrastructure Services (NTT Com CIS), NTT Communications Managed Services,  NTT Global Networks,  NTT Indonesia Nexcenter (NTTI Nexcenter), Oakton, RagingWire, Secure-24, SQL Services, Symmetry, Training Partners, Transatel, Viiew and WhiteHat Security.

CRN has confirmed that the rebrand has already taken affect. The websites for the above companies now redirect to aesthetically similar NTT-branded websites. The Oakton website, however, offers up some insight into the company’s future.

Oakton now calls itself the “Digital Business” division of NTT, which includes the former Oakton “as part of its broader digital business expertise and capabilities.”

“The Digital Business division delivers leading technology and business consulting services. Organisations across a range of industry sectors meet their technology and business needs through its flexible, cost-effective and results-driven approach to service delivery.”

The website doesn’t offer much more than that. CRN has asked Oakton how the rebrand will affect its local business, and will update the story when we hear back.
