New Zealand's Government Communications Security Bureau has appointed Catriona Robinson as the head of the country's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), effective 26 March.

Robinson is currently the Associate Deputy Secretary for Immigration at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). Prior to this, Ms Robinson was GM of operations for Immigration New Zealand.

Preceding her time at MBIE, Robinson spent five years at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) as the Director of National Security Systems.

“Catriona brings extensive leadership experience, the ability to work collaboratively with domestic and overseas partners and stakeholders, and has a strong commitment to service and integrity," said Director-General of the GCSB, Andrew Clark.

“Catriona has worked in a range of national security roles across the public service and understands New Zealand’s National Security system. She is well prepared to lead the NCSC in its work providing cyber security services to all New Zealanders.”

“The continued advances of technology means NCSC’s operating environment is often dynamic and fast-paced, and I am looking forward to leading the team in the great work they do," said Robinson.
