Investigative analytics and intelligent software provider Nuix has announced its second XLR8 conference series, to be held in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The events aim to explore how companies can navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) and its implications for society.

The conference will feature Brendan Dowling, Australian ambassador for cyber affairs and critical technology from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as a keynote speaker.

Dowling will discuss Australia's AI readiness ambitions, including ethical frameworks, data management practices, and investments in critical skills and infrastructure.

"This is more than just a conference, this is a chance to engage in the conversation where humanity meets AI against the background of ethics, civics, accountability and responsibility, and how we, as global leaders play a critical role in serving and protecting humanity," Jonathan Rubinsztein, chief executive of Nuix said.

Rubinsztein emphasised the need for responsible AI governance, stating, "While AI is transforming a wide range of industries with unprecedented innovation, it simultaneously raises significant risks and challenges in privacy, security, and compliance."

The XLR8 2024 conference series will take place across three major cities:

  • Sydney on 4 September
  • London on 1 October
  • Nashville on 10 October

Over 1000 professionals charged with protecting organisations and communities by uncovering truth from complex data are expected to attend.

In Nashville, the Hon. Jeff Bleich, former US Ambassador to Australia and deputy chair of the Nuix board, will deliver the opening address on technology, truth and trust.

Other speakers include Liesl Yearsley Akin, chief executive and AI pioneer of Australia's Akin;  Dennis Chornenky, chief executive of Domelabs AI in the US and chief AI advisor at UC Davis Health; Bryant Isbell, managing director of law firm Baker Mackenzie; and Robert Veres, chief information security officer of wealth managers Colonial First State.

The conference series aims to bring together global experts to discuss the responsible development and implementation of AI technologies, addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by this rapidly advancing field.
