The NSW Procurement Board has issued a direction to all government agencies to suspend starting any new procurement activities involving KPMG.
This applies across all government procurement arrangements including whole-of-government schemes or panels, agency-specific schemes or panels, and procurements outside those arrangements.
The relevant Department Secretary (or delegate) must provide written approval for engagements with KPMG that come from in-flight procurement activities involving KPMG, or current engagements with KPMG that are subject to extension, renewal or variation.
All new, extended, renewed, or varied engagements with KPMG also need to be reported to the Procurement Board.
The NSW Government currently engages KPMG across a range of advisory and professional services.
KPMG Australia has been accused of "using information obtained in audits of its clients that it knew was off limits to win new business ... ignored a whistleblower and actively sought to suppress the scandal", according to the ABC.
The direction is effective until withdrawn.
