NEXTDC's recently launched PH1 Port Hedland data centre has been recognised as the Edge Data Centre Project of the Year 2023 at the Data Center Dynamics Global Awards.
Launched in August, the 1.5MW data centre is the first of its kind in for NEXTDC in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Its construction was driven by the region's need for cloud connectivity and critical infrastructure to support digital transformation in the mining and resources sectors.
The ‘Edge Project of the Year’ award category was judged based on five key areas including business case, project management, meeting project objectives, key innovations and wider impact.
PH1 Port Hedland and all NEXTDC’s new edge sites will be interconnected to NEXTDC’s nationwide digital ecosystem via AXON, NEXTDC’s elastic interconnection services platform.
