Netgear offers more reseller training

Networking vendor Netgear has announced another round of training for resellers interested in convergence and digital home technologies.

The new courses, which would offer “a combination of broad-based and technology-specific tuition”, would run in February and March in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane, the company said in a statement.

Netgear said the courses were designed to improve reseller understanding of popular products and emerging technologies.

A free technology update in the evenings would talk about VoIP, Pre N-Range Max, MIMO, ADSL2+ and the digital home.

“The Technology Update will give resellers a better understanding of where the local market is heading and assist them in maximising sales opportunities,” Netgear said.

Other courses would be more specialised. Resellers would be able to get an in-depth and hands-on look at technologies such as managed switching, VPN and wireless in one-day courses for around $500, Netgear said.

“The fee covers the cost of any equipment used during training, which attendees get to take with them on completion of the course,” the vendor said.

Netgear said that reseller response to its 2004 wireless and VPN training courses had been so good the vendor had decided to hold more.

A new managed switch course would look at Layer 2 and Layer 3 switch theory, implementation of switch features such as link aggregation or trunking, span tree, Quality of Service (QoS), VLAN, access control lists (ACL) and port security.

Power over Ethernet, networking with fibre and Netgear’s NMS100 SNMP network management software would also be covered, the vendor said.

Wireless training would cover wireless theory, building wireless networks in home, business and outdoor environments, and Netgear’s new AutoCell technology, the vendor said.
