Network Appliance has restructured its local channel business based on the success of local business wins.
The storage vendor has launched a new VIP partner program and has signed on a number of new reseller partners. Along with the restructure NetApp A/NZ has appointed Scott Morris to the position of director of partner and public sector sales, A/NZ.
Previously NetApp’s channel model was split between the Northern and Southern region.
Morris said the aim of the restructure was to simplify its customers’ data management challenges.
“It is critical that we create strategic roles to maximise the value we can provide to customers, and maintain strong relationships with our channel and strategic alliance,” he said.
According to Morris the restructure would give the vendor a broader perspective on its channel model.
“A partner doesn’t necessarily represent a reseller. The move will allow us to look at our relationship with IBM, Fujitsu and newly appointed distributor, Avnet,” said Morris.
NetApp has both a direct and channel model, which Morris said has not conflicted with it channel partners.
“We have less then 50 partners that we deal with direct. We aren’t saying resellers can’t go for these customers or can’t have anything to do with the sales process, but they know NetApp directly deal with these customers,” he said.
Prior to Morris’ new position he was the northern region sales manager where he was responsible for business in NSW, QLD, ACT and NT.
